Taste test: Certain foods fill void when you can't sleep

Have you ever found yourself tossing and turning all night, struggling to get some much needed sleep?
Of course you have.
You'd be hard pressed to find even one person that never had at least one night where they simply could fall asleep, whether they're stressing about tomorrow's work day or can't seem to find the right balance when opining about their budget.
Either way, it is going to be a long night. But does it always have to be?
Sure, some may turn to sleep experts and subsequent studies to determine why they're not sleeping soundly or at all. Before it reaches that particular point, however, you may be inclined to take a closer look at what's keeping your from your shuteye.

No, this might not have anything to do with needing a new mattress or a fresh set of pillows but rather could be the product of not putting the right foods in your body when you are feeling restless.
Food can be the great equalizer when it comes to combating insomnia , especially in lieu of using medication.
Having a glass of milk before bed isn't an old wives tale by any means and actually can punctuate your evening quite nicely as far as sleeping well. The calcium found within milk helps you sleep, but some does the famed ingredient also found in turkey: tryptophan.
Scarfing down an entire Thanksgiving dinner at midnight might not be exactly what you're looking for, as far as getting your tryptophan fix, so milk would easily suffice in its place. And if you're more inclined to enjoy almond milk in place of whole or 2%, you're in luck. Almonds also help with sleeping as far as relaxing the muscles and making sure that aforementioned tossing and turning turns into a good night's rest.
Another drink that does wonders for sleep is tea, more specifically the kind without caffeine or camomile. Stocking up on caffeine before bed is tremendously counterproductive, but camomile tea helps you settle in and sleep remarkably all night.
Not getting sleep only serves as a catalyst to transform the next day into a complete mess as far as productivity or simply staying awake. Adding a few meaning morsels of food or drinks deemed satiating and sleep inducing should be more than enough to exact hours of superb slumbering.
