Affliction’s mindset is abundantly apparent with just a simple glance at one of its T-shirts: “Live Fast.†The Affliction brand sports intensity and controlled fervor that is displayed on everything associated with the company.
The launching pad for Affliction directly coincided with the meteoric rise of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Those incredibly dynamic shirts that featured an all-over pattern design exploded in the mid-2000s and are still widely associated with such brands as UFC, Pride and other MMA federations.
Wrestling and UFC isn’t the only groups that adore the Affliction style. Musicians and bands have developed signature Affliction-style shirts.
That kind of staying power and crossover appeal defines the Affliction brand as one that has serious staying power. To the credit of Affliction and the masterminds behind the clothing company, it has gone above and beyond just developing remarkably erratic T-shirt designs.
Affliction has expanded its demographic beyond amped up teenage boys who love the likes of Rampage Jackson and Brock Lesnar. Affliction now produces clothes and accessories for women and kids, ranging from swim suits and sweatshirts, respectively.
The truth be told, Affliction is about attitude and appealing to persons who go against the proverbial grain and refuse to accept the status quo.
Affliction wants men and women who march to their own beat and refuse to shop for traditional clothing. To Affliction’s credit, the clothing line isn’t exclusively available online and has created various sub-brands that can be purchased in retail stores such as Buckle or Spencer’s.
The online store is especially eye-catching and has an appeal that is like WWE meets Guess Jeans. The Affliction store sports serious rebellion coupled with an astute sense of fashion style and business acumen.
Furthermore, Affliction’s partnership and devout appreciation for MMA has afforded the company the opportunity to introduce a training-style brand: “Throwdown,†which features heavy bags and protective gear.
This natural progression is hardly shocking given the remarkable history of Affliction – a company fueled by passion, progression that just happens to produce some of the most unique clothing in the world.
