For over five decades, a company has been providing fashion and products for the home that have been adored by the world called Laura Ashley. This company has worked hard to achieve their notoriety and respect that they have today, and it wasn't always that way as they began. A husband and wife team began the process of printing on fabric on their own kitchen table and they began working on small squares due to the restrictions of their own environment. Yet this is what caused them to begin making quilts one square at a time. They were still inhibited by the limitations of the provision of fabric that they could obtain in their local community, and they spent a lot of time studying about fabric in the local library. Finally the idea occurred to them when traveling in Italy and seeing head scarves that the young girls were wearing because of the influence of an Audrey Hepburn movie. They decided to produce these scarves back in London, and now you know the rest of the story.
