Underscored with a sense of outdoor flavor and pride, Wrangler does an outstanding job marketing its jeans and subsequent products. The company appeals to a hard-working, sensible demographic that enjoys work, play and having jeans that can keep up with them.
The marketing continues with spokespersons that seem like every day guys and not celebrities. Wrangler opts for sports figures such as Brett Farve and Dale Earnhardt Jr., and leave Brad Pitt to his black-and-white cologne adds.
Most of the ads showcase men working or participating in a variety of tasks that shows off just how strong and durable the jeans are. A quick glimpse of the web site shows every activity from bull riding to horseback riding to further establish the brand’s reputation.
What the company makes apparent is its quality craftsmanship and that the organization stands by that creed. Any Wrangler product that doesn’t last a year will be replaced, which is a rare claim in this day and age. Those types of mottos often put the customer at ease.
Visit any Sears, Walmart or similar retail outlet and Wrangler typically finds itself front and center. The jeans are projected as affordable and durable – two staples that any consumer certainly would gravitate toward.
Wrangler truly benefits from being a major player in a market (jeans and clothing) that often features alternatives that are priced too high for the average buyer.
One aspect of Wrangler’s business that hasn’t bloomed fully is its tremendous selection of women’s and kid’s clothing. The Wrangler web site is littered with contemporary styles for both groups but the mainstream marketing via television commercials isn’t touching on those products.
And Wrangler, of course, is more than just jeans. Not only does Wrangler appeal to women and kids but also has an extensive collection of shirts, outdoor wear and accessories.
Wrangler has everything a company wants: name recognition, market share and a seemingly endless marketing budget. The company feels real and not drummed up by a gaggle of suits at a round table. That mentality is felt every time Wrangler reaches out and communicates with its target audience.
